Supabase raises $150m, led by GIC, and buys Turso to serve databases to AI agents
The open-source Postgres company says agents now create about 70% of its new databases. It is buying the SQLite-based Turso for an undisclosed price.
Supabase, the open-source Postgres database platform, announced $150 million in new funding on 2 October. Singapore's GIC led the round, with CapitalG (Alphabet's independent growth fund), IronArc and SquarePeg also taking part. The release gives no series name and no valuation, and says the round follows the company's $500 million Series F. The money will go to product work on databases run by agents and to liquidity for employees.
On the same day Supabase said it is acquiring Turso, a database platform built on SQLite and aimed at agent workloads; Supabase gave no price, and SiliconANGLE reported the sum was undisclosed. Turso will keep operating, with a path into the wider Supabase ecosystem. Turso's founder, Glauber Costa, becomes Supabase's Head of Agentic Services, and co-founder Pekka Enberg and the Turso team join too. Turso customers named in the release include Superhuman, Sauna.ai, CTO.new and Mastra.
The deal is about who now creates databases. Supabase says it is adding more than 1 million users and 4 million databases a month, and that agents or AI-driven tools create 70% of new databases. It says more than 13 million developers use the platform. In a blog post, chief executive Paul Copplestone wrote that agents are spinning up millions of databases for the prototypes, dashboards and apps they build.
SiliconANGLE reported that Supabase also launched Supabase Compute, hosted sandboxes for long-running AI agents, the same day.
