OpenAI rolls out GPT-6 in ChatGPT's Chat: GPT-6 Sol for paid plans, and GPT-6 Luna for Free and Go users from 8 October
The models that reached the API and ChatGPT Work on 22 September now power everyday chat, with a new “Intelligent UI” that can answer with charts and small tools.
On 7 October OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 in the Chat part of ChatGPT, Android Headlines and Digit reported. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers get GPT-6 Sol, and Free and Go accounts were to start getting the smaller GPT-6 Luna on 8 October, Android Headlines reported. For Enterprise, timing depends on administrator settings.
This is a second step. When GPT-6 Sol and Luna launched on 22 September they went to the API, ChatGPT Work and Codex, and VKTR reported then that the Chat experience did not yet support them. Digit reported that the models behind Work and Codex do not change in this release.
The rollout comes with a feature OpenAI calls Intelligent UI: answers can include interactive pieces such as diagrams, widgets, maps and calculators, which the model picks when they help more than plain text, Digit reported. Digit reported that the rollout is global; Android Headlines reported that it is gradual and that older Mac and Windows desktop apps do not have the feature yet.
OpenAI's own announcement was not visible from here: its page refused us twice. The tier and date details above come from the two outlets named.
