Musk says SpaceX will rename its AI unit SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, after Trump's push to replace “artificial” with “super”

He gave no timeline. The executive order behind the new wording binds only federal agencies' own documents.

Elon Musk said on Sunday 4 October that SpaceX will rename its AI unit, SpaceXAI, to SpaceXSI. Reuters reports that he replied “Yes, we will make that change” when a user on X asked about the rename. Fox Business reports a second post: “No more AI. SI, it's better”.

Musk gave no timeline. At the time Reuters published, SpaceXAI's X account had not changed, and the unit did not immediately respond to Reuters.

Reuters ties the move to President Trump's push for the term. It quotes him at the UN General Assembly: “From this point forward, all of United States documents, and hopefully the world's will be changed to use the much more accurate term 'super' as opposed to artificial.” On 29 September he signed Executive Order 14434, “Inaugurating The Era of Super Intelligence”, which ran here on 30 September. Its section 2(a) says: “To the maximum extent permitted by law, executive departments and agencies (agencies) shall use "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in place of "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, policy documents, and other non-statutory documents within the executive branch.”

The order puts no duty on private companies, so the rename is SpaceX's own choice. SpaceX trades on Nasdaq as SPCX. It is the first large company seen here to say it will drop “AI” from a name in favour of “SI”. SpaceXAI is also the company that the New York City Council subpoenaed for Monday's AI hearing.
