UBTech and Xiamen C&D plan a joint venture to sell at least 10,000 UBTech humanoid robots by 2030
The Hong Kong-listed robot maker signed with the Shanghai-listed supply-chain group in Xiamen on 9 October; UBTech's statement with the 10,000 target was carried on 11 October Beijing time. No financial terms were given.
UBTech Robotics, the Shenzhen maker of Walker humanoid robots, says it held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony with Xiamen C&D (建发股份) in Xiamen on 9 October. UBTech's statement, posted on its official WeChat account and carried by the finance portal 10jqka at 08:32 Beijing time on 11 October (19:32 on 10 October, Central), says the two will set up a joint venture to build a “优生态科技中心福建总部”, a Fujian headquarters for UBTech's ecosystem technology centre. They plan to sell no fewer than 10,000 UBTech humanoid robots together by 2030.
UBTech names the uses: logistics and warehousing, security patrols and inspection, and services in urban public spaces, with supply-chain finance to lower the cost of adopting the robots.
C&D's own post, carried by 10jqka on 10 October Beijing time, confirms the date and place. It names C&D chairman Lin Mao and UBTech's founder, chairman and chief executive Zhou Jian at the signing, and lists government showrooms, commercial complexes and industrial parks as settings. It mentions neither the joint venture nor the 10,000-unit target. Neither statement gives financial terms, the joint venture's capital or its ownership.
The 10,000 figure is a sales target over about four years, not an order. The signing itself falls a day before the Switchboard's window; the target was first made public in UBTech's statement, which is inside it.
