TypeSafe AI, maker of the non-text model Jev, raises $870m at a $7.5bn valuation

Andreessen Horowitz leads the round less than a month after Jev launched, and Martin Casado joins the board.

TypeSafe AI has raised $870m at a $7.5bn valuation. The company's own post gives the round as “$870 million at a $7.5B valuation, with Martin Casado joining the board.” Andreessen Horowitz led, and Sequoia Capital and existing investor DCVC took part, along with a group of angel investors.

The money comes less than a month after the launch of Jev, which TechCrunch dates to 15 September. TypeSafe calls Jev its first “System One Model.” It is built on transformers but is not a large language model: instead of text it produces probabilities, which TechCrunch says the company calls “calibrated decisions,” and it is aimed at automating tasks. The company claims Jev is faster and uses far fewer tokens than LLMs, TechCrunch reported, and its own post says a third of the Fortune 500 use it: “A third of the Fortune 500 are getting their Jev on.”

The company was founded in 2024 by Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher, Sasha Sheng, formerly of Meta, and Erik Gafni, TechCrunch reported. Jev is still in early access.
