SpaceXAI releases Grok Voice 3.0 at the same $0.08 a minute, and says Starlink's support line already handles 20,000 calls a day with it
The speech-to-speech model tops Artificial Analysis's index on the company's own chart, but trails OpenAI's GPT-Live-1 on a support-call test.
SpaceXAI, the AI unit of SpaceX formerly called xAI, announced Grok Voice 3.0 on 14 October. It is a speech-to-speech model for voice agents and is available in the company's Voice Agent API at $0.08 a minute, or $4.80 an hour, the same price as Grok Voice 2.0. The developer release notes say grok-voice-2.0 is deprecated and the grok-voice-latest alias now points to the new model.
The announcement shows a table credited to Artificial Analysis, dated 13 October, in which Grok Voice 3.0 scores 86.9 on the Speech-to-Speech Index, against 83.2 for OpenAI's GPT-Live-1, 82.6 for Google's Gemini 3.8 Live and 81.3 for Grok Voice 2.0. Its own chart for τ-Voice, a test of customer-support agents, shows a weaker result: 71.6% for Grok Voice 3.0 against 74.5% for GPT-Live-1.
The company makes usage claims for its own businesses. “Starlink call centers use Grok Voice to answer 20,000 customer calls every day across multiple languages,” the page says, adding: “Roughly 70% are resolved with no human in the loop”. It also says Grok Voice powers millions of conversations a day across Tesla and SpaceX. None of these figures has been checked independently.
Voice agents are where rival labs have been cutting prices; the Switchboard reported Qwen's and Google's voice moves in September. SpaceXAI chose to hold its price and raise quality instead.
