Samsung puts its third-quarter operating profit at about ₩107.4 trillion, nearly nine times the ₩12.17 trillion of a year earlier
The preliminary guidance gives no breakdown by division. The Korea Herald reports analysts put the memory business's profit at about ₩110 trillion.
Samsung Electronics released preliminary guidance on 8 October (Korean time) for July to September 2026: consolidated sales of about ₩195 trillion and consolidated operating profit of about ₩107.40 trillion. It gives ranges of ₩194–196 trillion and ₩107.3–107.5 trillion, and notes: “Please note that Korean disclosure regulations do not allow earnings estimates to be offered as a range.” The headline figures are the midpoints.
Samsung's own table compares that with ₩89.49 trillion of operating profit on ₩171.5 trillion of sales in the second quarter of 2026, and ₩12.17 trillion on ₩86.06 trillion in the third quarter of 2025.
The guidance has no division breakdown and does not mention memory or AI. The Korea Herald reports that “analysts estimate its memory business generated about 110 trillion won in operating profit”, and that the quarter makes Samsung “the first technology company worldwide to cross the 100 trillion won mark in quarterly operating profit.” Those are the newspaper's and analysts' figures, not Samsung's.
Samsung makes memory chips, including the high-bandwidth memory that sits beside AI accelerators. Full results are due later in October.
