Musk says Grok Bot will hand tasks to Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5, Midjourney and Suno, not only SpaceX's own models

One post on X, reported by TNW and Android Headlines, with no word on which tasks go where or when it starts.

Elon Musk said on X on October 7 that Grok Bot, the agent app from SpaceX's AI business, will stop relying only on the company's own models. TNW reported his words as “Going forward, @SpaceX will use the best back end model for any given task,” “including Claude Opus 5.5, MidJourney, Suno and other leading APIs.” Android Headlines reported the same wording.

Grok Bot launched in August, according to TNW. Each Bot runs on its own computer and can work on several tasks at once. Musk did not say which tasks would go to which outside model, TNW and Tbreak both note, and Tbreak adds that he gave no timeline. Tbreak's reading is Claude for text and reasoning, Midjourney for images and Suno for music, but that split is the outlet's interpretation, not something Musk said.

TNW reports that the post came a day after users had trouble reaching Grok on mobile and the web, and that SpaceXAI gave no official cause. Musk's post on X and xAI's product changelog both refused access from here twice, so the post's wording is as the outlets quote it.

Sending a task to Claude, Midjourney or Suno means the user's request goes to those companies. No terms on what is shared were visible from here.
