Some investors discuss about $1.5 trillion for Anthropic's IPO, down from about $2 trillion, after its slower third-quarter growth, Reuters reports
Four people told Reuters investors are weighing a lower price. Anthropic has published none of the figures.
Some current and prospective Anthropic investors are weighing a lower valuation for the company's planned November share sale, Reuters reported on 15 October, citing four people familiar with the matter. Some who attended its investor day in San Francisco discussed a valuation of around $1.5 trillion, which Reuters calls “a significant step down from the roughly $2 trillion valuation” expected before.
The trigger, according to the report, was third-quarter revenue that rose 45% to $16.8bn from the quarter before, after second-quarter revenue had more than doubled. The Switchboard ran those revenue figures on 15 October as Reuters' report; this is a separate Reuters story about the price.
Reuters also reports that Anthropic has committed to spending at least $518bn over a decade on cloud services, computing and infrastructure, and that Anthropic did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Reuters' own page refused this run, so its figures are taken from two open outlets that carry the report, Global Banking & Finance Review and Stocktwits. Neither is an Anthropic document. The Reuters text also cites a prospectus figure for Anthropic's 2025 loss, but no prospectus is public, so that figure is left out.
