Apple discloses a deal to hire staff from Huxe, the AI podcast startup founded by former NotebookLM developers, and license its technology

An EU filing shows Apple taking the people and a non-exclusive licence, not the company.

Apple has agreed to hire staff from Huxe, which built personalised AI-generated podcasts and shut down in May, and to license its technology. MacRumors reported the deal on October 9, from Apple's notice to the European Commission; TechCrunch, which credits MacRumors with the first report, followed on October 10.

According to TechCrunch, the filing says Apple has agreed to make employment offers to “certain employees of Huxe AI” and will “receive a non-exclusive license to Huxe's intellectual property rights.” Apple is not buying the company itself. MacRumors says Apple notified the Commission on June 9. The filing does not say who received offers or whether anyone joined.

MacRumors names Huxe's founders as Raiza Martin, Jason Spielman and Stephen Hughes, all former members of Google's NotebookLM team. Huxe's audio service ended on May 28.

Apple has made no public statement. The Commission's case page opened but showed no entry text, so the filing's terms are as the two outlets report them.
