Anthropic told prospective IPO investors its third-quarter revenue rose 45% to $16.8bn and that it was profitable on an adjusted basis, Reuters reports
The figures come from two people at an investor day. Anthropic has published none of them and did not respond to Reuters.
Anthropic told prospective investors on 14 October that its third-quarter revenue rose 45% from the second quarter, Reuters reports, citing two people who attended an investor day. Reuters reporters Milana Vinn and Krystal Hu write that third-quarter revenue rose to $16.8bn, from $11.6bn in the second quarter and $4.7bn in the first, and that the company described itself as profitable on an adjusted basis in the third quarter.
The Reuters story says the Financial Times first reported the third-quarter revenue figure on Wednesday. It also says Anthropic did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
These numbers are not from an Anthropic document. The company is private and has not filed a prospectus, so the Switchboard cannot check them against an issuer's own figures and carries them as reported. The Switchboard reported on 22 September that Anthropic had pushed its planned IPO to November; this is the first set of quarterly figures to surface from the marketing for it.
If accurate, the figures would mean revenue more than tripled between the first and third quarters. They arrive on a day when debt worries hit CoreWeave and other AI infrastructure stocks, and when TSMC said demand for leading-edge chips still outruns supply.
