Anthropic pushes its IPO to November
The listing slips from October while the company waits on third-quarter numbers, with a reported $2 trillion valuation in view.
Anthropic's listing has slipped from October to November, first reported by the Wall Street Journal. The company wants third-quarter results in hand before it prices, and its advisers think the numbers will help: analysts expect the quarter could be its first profitable one, and an ARK Invest estimate in August put its annualised revenue run rate above $74 billion.
The reported ask is roughly a $2 trillion valuation, with a raise that has been discussed at around $100 billion — bigger than SpaceX's record listing in June. OpenAI, which ruled out going public this year, is reportedly raising privately at more than $1.2 trillion instead.
The delay lands in an awkward month for the company: its CEO is publicly asking the industry to slow down while its bankers prepare a listing that assumes it does not. Critics have been blunt about that tension all week; supporters argue the opposite, that a public Anthropic would be the first frontier lab forced into real disclosure and governance.
