Agility picks Nyobolt's fast-charging batteries for its Digit 5 humanoid, claiming 90 minutes of work from a 9-minute charge

Agility says Digit 5 will work more than 20 hours a day, with early access in the first half of 2027, weeks before its shareholders vote on a Nasdaq listing.

Agility Robotics named Nyobolt, a battery company based in Cambridge, England, as the fast-charging battery partner for Digit 5, its next humanoid robot, in a release dated 15 October. Agility says the battery “delivers 90-minutes of runtime and charges in just 9 minutes, achieving a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio”.

Daniel Diez, Agility's chief business officer, said: “Digit 5 will deliver more than 20 hours of productive work in a 24-hour day, more than two full shifts.” Battery life has been one of the limits on humanoids in warehouses, where a robot that spends hours charging needs a second robot to cover its shift.

The release says early access to Digit 5 with Nyobolt's battery “is expected to begin in the first half of 2027”, with wider availability over the following months. It names no customer or order for Digit 5, and gives no battery capacity or cycle-life figures. All performance figures are Agility's own.

The announcement comes a day after the SEC declared effective Agility's merger filing, which the Switchboard reported on 14 October; shareholders vote on 2 November. The Robot Report dates its write-up of the battery deal 14 October, while Agility's release is dated 15 October.
